Michael Murray from Coppin State has been selected for StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week for December 17th. Norfolk State's Rashid Gaston has won StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week. And last but not least, North Carolina A&T's DeMetrius Upchurch has received StatSheet's MEAC 6th Man of the Week.

Murray led the entire MEAC in rebounding (11.5 per game). He also tallied huge numbers in both shooting (60%) and scoring (15 pts per game). The Coppin State junior played well in a victory versus Maryland-Baltimore County and a loss to Wagner.

Murray led scoring and rebounding for the Eagles with 19 points and 13 rebounds in an 80-61 win over Maryland-Baltimore County. He then added 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-65 loss to Wagner.

This is the second StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week award for Michael Murray. The runner-up this week is junior Matthew Hezekiah from South Carolina State. Honorable mention goes to sophomore Simuel Frazier from Howard. Casey Walker finished eighth and was the highest ranking player from Delaware State.

StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Norfolk State's Rashid Gaston

Rashid Gaston averaged 25 minutes as a starter for Norfolk State. His average in scoring (11.5 pts per game) topped all MEAC freshmen. In a 64-54 loss to Illinois, Gaston led all scoring and rebounding for the Spartans with 12 and 8 respectively. Following that in an 84-62 loss to NC State, he dialed up 11 points and 6 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week award for Rashid Gaston. The runner-up is Sterling Smith from Coppin State. Bruce Beckford from North Carolina A&T receives honorable mention.

StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: North Carolina A&T's DeMetrius Upchurch

Senior DeMetrius Upchurch, a 6-7 forward, averaged 21 minutes over two games for the Aggies. In a close 76-71 win over New Jersey Tech, Upchurch added 8 rebounds and 75% shooting. During a 77-66 loss to Seton Hall, he racked up 9 points and 8 rebounds.

This is the first time this season that DeMetrius Upchurch has won the StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week. Tauron Bailey, a junior forward from Morgan State, is the runner up. Our own Tyshawn Bell receives honorable mention. Delaware State has yet to win StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week.
